Install Flashing Roof Vent

Be sure to clean the outside of the pipe from old caulk that could be in the way of the flashing.

Now that the old flashing is gone you can slide the new flashing over the pipe vent and maneuver it under the shingles above the pipe. Kozy kollar products are the only roof vent boot flashing or exhaust hood you install from inside a building and over shingles or similar roofing materials. Slide the new flashing over the vent pipe and under the shingles above the pipe. Pull the old flashing up over the vent pipe and scrape any old caulk and debris off the roof.

Center the pipe in the flashing and push the flexible front corners up or down so that the flashing pipe is parallel to the vent pipe. Use one roofing nail in each corner of the flashing to secure it to the roof. Carefully remove all the shingles from the flashing. After installation you ll then re lay the shingles you removed to provide a comprehensive water tight solution.

The flashing for your plumbing vent needs to be large enough to surround the vent so it should be just wider than the vent s diameter. In order to properly install new flashing you ll have to remove the shingles surrounding your old flashing and then re lay them after installation. Further your step flashing pieces need to be 10 inches 254 mm long and at least 2 inches 50 mm wider than the exposure of the shingle you re using. Remove the old and clean the pipe.
